Sandra Bartocha

Sandra Bartocha (born in 1980) is a freelance photographer who specializes in nature and travel photography for a variety of clients.

She grew up in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and as daughter of a photographer she got interested in photography quite early. While studying Media and English Literature at Potsdam University she worked as an assistant for a studio photographer but soon realized that this would not be her world. Instead she concentrated on her passion for the outdoors and soon specialized in photographing local landscapes and nature; in particular coast lines, forests and flowers. Her main goal is to create images that interpret a scene in an artistic and aesthetic way to evoke emotions - rather than just documenting a scene.

In 2007 she became a full-time photographer and was elected vice president of the GDT (German Association of Wildlife Photographers). Since 2008 she is the chief editor of the magazine “GDT Forum Naturfotografie”.

She has successfully participated in international photo competitions like GDT EWPY, ASFERICO, Glanzlichter and has been awarded twice as overall-winner of the “100 Images of the Year – Competition” of the GfF (Society of Photography) in 2006 and 2007. Her images are exhibited as fine art prints throughout Europe – appear on postcards and calendars as well as in magazines dedicated to nature photography on a regular basis.

Product Testimonial: I always heard about the superb quality of Gitzo equipment, but it was not until I got the Gitzo GT 3350LS that I’ve been absolutely convinced. As a landscape photographer I rely on a sturdy tripod that braves the storm on a windy mountain top or at the stormy coast. For me it was also important to have the possibility to use the tripod in very low positions for details and flowers. As the GT 3350LS has no center column it is perfect to work low on the ground and it further adds to the overall stability as I’m able to mount my ballhead directly onto the cover plate. Although he tripod is quite large it fits perfectly into my travelling bag and it is very comfortable while carrying around as it is light as a feather. The GT 3350LS is the perfect match to my needs – solid, lightweight and of an extremely high built quality. If I would have to buy a new one – it would be exactly the same!
