Bill & Linda Lane Workshops: Spring in the Great Smoky MountainsFrom: 04/10/2012 To: 04/14/2012Register
There is not much that can compare to the majesty of the Great Smoky Mountains-one of the most photographed locations in the country and one of our favorites. They are full of photographic inspirations. It will be four days of almost non-stop shooting of a variety of photo "ops": old barns and fences, peak spring wildflowers with and without critters on them, waterfalls, rivers, and scenics galore, and more often than not, deer, turkey and maybe a mama bear with cubs. And if we are really lucky, a late covering of spring snow. North of the tropics, only China can match the Southern Appalachians in the diversity of flowers. The 521,490 acre park has more than 1,400 species of native flowering plants. These spring flowers combined with a diverse array of other subjects provides a photographer’s paradise. You’ll shoot everything from long telephotos to macros and we’ll help you along. If you are not an early bird not only have you been missing out, but this is not the hobby or art form to pursue. It is all about light. You are photographing Light; the best light is very early morning and late evening. So, we shoot from pre-sunrise until the afterglow of sunset learning how to deal with the mid day light – a good time for close ups and macros. |
