The Ocean Traveler is not only the world's first Stainless Steel tripod, actually it is the world's first tripod specifically developed to challenge extreme climates and adverse elements. It is derived from the exclusive Limited Edition 90th Anniversary Titanium Traveler of which it carries the same design and manufacturing technology. The Ocean Traveler combines new features expressly developed for difficult environments, rich in salty water, sand, mud and high humidity levels with the compactness of the Traveler family. Gitzo Ocean Traveler castings are made of uncoated Stainless Steel and manufactured with a unique process to guarantee high precision and ultra thin components. A special surface treatment, normally used for surgery equipment, completely closes any porosity at microscopic level ensuring to eliminate any anchoring point for corroding agents. The beautiful and revolutionary design brings a new higher quality standard in the market. It has been developed by advanced 3D modelling software to ensure the maximum stiffness of the structure with the minimum weight. Gitzo 6X carbon fiber tubes and G-Lock further enhance its outstanding performance. An other key plus is the innovative Ocean-Lock, a perfected G-Lock system that, thanks to special inserts at both ends, minimises the amount of water and debris that may enter tubes and locking mechanisms. The upper Stainless Steel leg ends are provided with a special funnel-like hole that allows to empty the small amount of water that may have entered the tubes. The Ocean Traveler incorporates a dedicated Stainless Steel center ball head also conceived to be used in adverse conditions. It can be easily disassembled in order to clean the inner parts from salt, dust and sand that may get trapped inside.
